It’s been so long since I posted, I’ll catch up soon. Just taking the opportunity to post while Buzz is busy on his own work of art!
As I’ve said before, writing is a huge struggle for Buzz, and if I made him sit at a table and write a few thank you letters it would take hours of stress and tears (for both of us!), and that’s definitely not my idea of homeschooling! So we have to think outside the box. And yes I know it’s February, but honestly, 5 weeks to get around to sending Christmas thank you’s is positively speedy by my standards!
Mosaics and collages are always fun and effective, and Buzz gets to write ‘thank you’ without actually writing! I got him to help come up with ideas for materials so that each letter is something different.
We had a lot of fun and we love the end result!
It can be very difficult to get Buzz started on something but he can be so single minded and focused with these kinds of activities that he doesn’t want to stop (after the initial hurdle). Homeschooling means I can nurture that characteristic where appropriate (it’s not so appropriate when the obsessiveness is Wii!!). So now he is making his own collage, his idea.
And here’s his end result…
